Berkum es una localidad en el municipio de Wachtberg en el distrito de Rhein-Sieg en Renania del Norte-Westfalia, al sur de Bonn. En Berkum se encuentra el ayuntamiento del municipio de Wachtberg.
La comarca de Berkum tiene una superficie de 340 ha. Se sitúa en la zona de manantial del arroyo de Berkumer, que en Oberbachem, junto con el arroyo de Züllighoven, forma el arroyo de Mehlemer. La comarca está topográficamente marcada por la colina de Wachtberg de 258 m de altura - en honor a la cual se nombró el municipio de Wachtberg en 1969 - así como por el Stumpeberg, que se encuentra al norte y tiene aproximadamente 230 m de altura, y el Hohenberg al sur. El límite de la comarca es, en el suroeste, también la frontera entre Renania del Norte-Westfalia y Renania-Palatinado.
A través de Berkum pasa la carretera estatal L 123 de Mehlem a Meckenheim. En la cresta sobre el área de asentamiento transcurre la carretera del distrito K 58.
