Niederelfringhausen está ubicado al sur del núcleo urbano de Hattingen y al este de Langenberg, en la carretera estatal L 924, en la zona fronteriza de Westfalia marciana y Tierra de Berg. Al sur del lugar se encuentra el distrito de Oberelfringhausen; el arroyo Felderbach fluye a través de ambos lugares. La elevación más alta es el Immelberg con 277 m de altura. El paisaje es conocido como el Hügelland de Hattingen o la Suiza de Elfringhausen. En Niederelfringhausen se encuentra el área de protección del paisaje Niederbredenscheid/Elfringhausen y la reserva natural del valle de Felderbach.
