Niederelfringhausen si trova a sud del centro abitato di Hattingen e a est di Langenberg lungo la strada statale L 924, nel territorio di confine tra il Westfalia marittimo e la regione del Bergisches Land. A sud del villaggio si trova il quartiere di Oberelfringhausen; il Felderbach scorre attraverso entrambi i luoghi. La vetta più alta è l'Immelberg, con un'altezza di 277 m. Il paesaggio è chiamato Colline di Hattingen o Svizzera di Elfringhausen. A Niederelfringhausen ci sono l'area di protezione paesaggistica di Niederbredenscheid/Elfringhausen e l'area naturale protetta della valle di Felderbach.
