Se accede a esta capilla a través del impresionante "Goldene Tor" (Puerta Dorada), una elaborada puerta de hierro forjado que separa la capilla del resto de la catedral desde 1974.
Originalmente esta puerta servía de extremo occidental del coro y está decorada con símbolos que personifican a la Iglesia y al Papado, así como con insignias arzobispales y electorales.
