On accède à cette chapelle par l'impressionnante « Goldene Tor » (Porte Dorée), une porte en fer forgé élaborée qui sépare la chapelle du reste de la cathédrale depuis 1974.

À l'origine, cette porte servait d'extrémité ouest du chœur et est décorée de symboles personnifiant l'Église et la papauté, ainsi que d'insignes archiépiscopaux et électoraux.
