DESCRIPCIÓN
Es una de las iglesias más antiguas de Sudamérica, empezada a construir entre 1562 y 1565. Presenta una mezcla de estilos como barroco, mudéjar, rococó, neogótico y neoclásico. Han sido varias los trabajos de reconstrucción que se han realizado, siendo el más importante el del 1755 debido a un terremoto.
PARTICULARIDADES
- Alberga una larga muestra de arte, pintura y escultura de grandes artistas de la época colonial y republicana. Destacan las pinturas de Caspicara (Manuel Chili) y Miguel de Santiago.
INFORMACIÓN ÚTIL
Es permitido el ingreso a la nave principal, patios interiores y a una de las terrazas, lugar desde el cual es posible apreciar la parte norte del centro histórico. (actividad de pago)
