Valdetorres de Jarama es un municipio y localidad de España, en la Comunidad de Madrid. Cuenta con 4008 habitantes. Su extensión es de 33,5 km² y posee una densidad de población de 119 hab/km². Se encuentra a 32 kilómetros de Alcalá y a 39 kilómetros de Madrid. El tipo de hábitats de este espacio natural protegido por la Unión Europea es en mosaico, lo que favorece a las especies de aves como la avutarda común,[1] el cernícalo, sisón, aguilucho pálido y aguilucho cenizo, y al pastoreo, por la calidad y cantidad de pasto que produce propio de los cultivos de secano. Esta zona de interés comunitario se denomina de estepas cerealistas del río Jarama.
