Bolvir es un municipio español de la comarca de la Baja Cerdaña en la provincia de Gerona, en la comunidad autónoma de Cataluña. Está situado a 1148 m de altitud respecto del mar Mediterráneo, muy cerca de la frontera francesa y sobre terrenos que corresponden a laderas de las estribaciones pirenaicas, en una zona muy soleada a la que denominan La Solana. Hacia abajo, hacia el río Segre y en terrenos más suaves, radica otra pequeña parte del municipio denominada Talltorta.
Predominan las segundas residencias en edificaciones con acabados de piedra y madera.
