Alfafar es un municipio y localidad española de la provincia de Valencia, en la Comunidad Valenciana. Está situado en la comarca de la Huerta Sur. Contaba con una población censada de 21.415 habitantes a 1 de enero de 2021, según la INE.[2]
El topónimo proviene de la alquería andalusí que debió llamarse الفخارة «alfarería»[3] o الخفئ «lugar hondo».[4] Sea cual fuera el término original, en el Llibre del Repartiment aparece como Alfolfar, que derivaría a Alfofar y finalmente, Alfafar.[1]
