El Guadiana es un río del sudoeste de la península ibérica. Nace en la submeseta sur y sigue una dirección este-oeste hasta que, a la altura de la ciudad de Badajoz, toma rumbo sur, que mantiene hasta su desembocadura en Ayamonte en el océano Atlántico, donde vierte un caudal medio de 78,8 m³/s. En su curso bajo, el río, que discurre por España y Portugal, hace de frontera entre ambos países a lo largo de numerosos tramos. Se trata del cuarto río más largo de la península ibérica.
