Avilés es una ciudad y un concejo español situado en el Principado de Asturias, en el norte de la península ibérica, a ambas márgenes de la ría de Avilés. En 2020, el municipio contaba con una población empadronada de 77 791 habitantes,[1] siendo la tercera capital municipal en población de Asturias, en número de habitantes. El concejo es uno de los veinte municipios agrupados que forman el área metropolitana central de Asturias.
