El Cuerpo General de la Policía Canaria , más conocido como Policía Canaria, fue creado en 2010 siendo el presidente de la Comunidad Paulino Rivero.
El nombre oficial de la policía autonómica de Canarias es Policía Canaria. Esta policía autonómica está compuesta por el Cuerpo General de Policía Canaria y por los cuerpos de las policías locales de los 88 municipios canarios. Los cien agentes de la primera promoción configuran solo el Cuerpo General.
