Según el censo, aquí vivió durante siglos una familia llamada Doblas, quienes eran plateros de gran renombre .
En esta plaza hubo un beaterio fundado por Beatriz de Córdoba, el de Nuestra Señora de la Piedad , que fue disuelto en fecha indeterminada.
La fuente de la Plaza de las Doblas data de 1944 y fue diseñada por el arquitecto Víctor Escribano Ucelay.
Consiste en un abrevadero de piedra de Sierra Elvira , de sección curva y poca altura (35 cm) que permite que el agua, que brota de una fuente central, se desborde en el abrevadero que lo rodea. El pavimento circundante es de estilo chino cordobés, con plantas ocupando los vanos terrosos, dotando al conjunto de un ambiente discreto y privado.
