Segons el cens, hi va viure durant segles una família anomenada Doblas, que eren argenters de gran renom .
En aquesta plaça hi havia un beateri fundat per Beatriz de Córdoba, el de Nuestra Señora de la Piedad , que es va dissoldre en data indeterminada.
La font de la plaça de les Dobles data de l'any 1944 i va ser dissenyada per l'arquitecte Víctor Escribano Ucelay.
Consta d' un abeurador de pedra de Sierra Elvira , de secció corba i poca alçada (35 cm) que permet que l'aigua, que brolla d'una font central, desbordi a l'abeurador circumdant. El paviment que l'envolta és d'estil xinès cordovès, amb plantes ocupant les obertures de terra, donant al conjunt un ambient discret i privat.
