Desde Benidorm se sube al Alto de Turrón Duro (literalmente: la altura del turrón duro). Esta amplia carretera (CV-70) constituye el acceso turístico de Guadalest, un pintoresco pueblo construido sobre rocas. Excepto los domingos y festivos, este camino es tranquilo.
Luego se dirige a Beniarda para hacer un recorrido por el embalse de Guadalest.
Después de finalmente alejarnos de la presa, descendemos al valle del Río de Guadalest. Justo antes de cruzar el río, gire a la derecha en una carretera secundaria. Esta carretera sube a la CV-70 a través de la pedanía de Gines. Por cierto, es una subida empinada: en 3,3 kilómetros superas los 300 altímetros, ¡lo que equivale a una pendiente media del 9%! Lo que queda es el fuerte descenso del Alto de Turrón Duro y luego las concurridas carreteras a Benidorm.
