Wissembourg es una localidad y comuna francesa situada al norte del departamento de Bajo Rin, en la región de Alsacia.
Wissembourg se desarrolló a lo largo del siglo XII y siglo XIII en torno a la abadía de "Saints-Pierre-et-Paul" fundada en el siglo VII por Pirminius, eclesiástico visigodo de origen narbonés que más tarde sería canonizado y convertido en patrón de Alsacia. Hacia 924 la abadía se había convertido en la más rica de la región, obteniendo el rango de principado.
