El bosque de las Landas de Gascuña es un bosque situado en la región de Nueva Aquitania . Ocupando una superficie de más de un millón de hectáreas, es el bosque más grande de Europa Occidental.[1]El bosque está compuesto principalmente de pino marítimo, Pinus pinaster. A diferencia de muchos otros bosques europeos, el bosque de las Landas es casi en su totalidad creado y administrado por el hombre con fines industriales. Esta plantación de pinos masiva se inició en el siglo XVIII en la zona de Pays de Buch, de la Gironda, para detener la erosión y limpiar el suelo.[2]
