Construido por el duque Luis de Orleans a finales del siglo XIV, el castillo de Pierrefonds estaba en ruinas cuando Napoleón III decidió encargar su reconstrucción a Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. La restauración del castillo de Pierrefonds llevó casi treinta años y, aunque Eugène Viollet-le-Duc se mantuvo fiel al estilo gótico original, se tomó algunas libertades con la verdad arqueológica. Pero el resultado es impresionante: un puente levadizo, ocho imponentes torres defensivas, una torre del homenaje... ¡para una visita mágica al país de los caballeros al borde del bosque de Compiègne!
