A 350 metros de la plaza Pey-Berland y de la catedral de Saint-André, el Museo de Aquitania ocupa los locales de la antigua Facultad de Letras y Ciencias, construida a finales del siglo XIX en el emplazamiento del convento de Feuillants, donde fue enterrado Michel de Montaigne en 1592. Presenta la historia de Burdeos y su región, desde la prehistoria hasta el siglo XXI. Con cerca de 700.000 piezas, sus colecciones se dividen en tres áreas principales: arqueología, historia y etnografía. El Museo de Aquitania le acompaña en sus descubrimientos a través de exposiciones temporales, talleres temáticos y, previa cita, visitas guiadas.
