La plaza de la Alianza, más íntima que la plaza Stanislas, forma parte del conjunto arquitectónico del siglo XVIII reconocido por la UNESCO. Debe su nombre a la alianza entre la Casa de Lorena Habsburgo y la Casa de Francia. En su centro se encuentra una notable fuente, creada por Cyfflé, inspirada en la fuente de Bernini de la plaza Navona de Roma.
