La finca real de Château Gaillard es un entorno verde de 15 hectáreas en el corazón de la ciudad de Amboise. Es el paraíso olvidado del Renacimiento en Touraine. A su regreso de Italia en 1496, el joven rey Carlos VIII se enamoró de las ciudades y los palacios italianos y decidió recrear "Le Paradis Terrestre" en Amboise, en el castillo Gaillard. Para hacer realidad este sueño, convenció a 22 artistas italianos para que regresaran con él a Amboise, entre ellos Dom Pacello, el jardinero más famoso de 1500. Estableció los primeros jardines del Renacimiento francés en el Château Gaillard y aclimató los primeros naranjos de Francia.
