Con sus alambiques del siglo XIX aún en funcionamiento, la destilería del Centro desvela algunos de sus secretos milenarios
En el corazón de una destilería tradicional fundada en 1789, el museo da testimonio de las 48 destilerías que existían en Limoges en 1900.
Durante casi dos siglos, Limoges fue la ciudad de las destilerías. Importante centro comercial, recibía coñac, armañac, ron, vinos generosos, azúcar de caña, frutas, plantas y especias, indispensables para la elaboración de numerosas especialidades. Gracias a la abundancia de robles para la fabricación de toneles, al agua pura y sabrosa y a una mano de obra experta y creativa, Limoges vio desarrollarse y prosperar una nueva actividad junto a la porcelana. Entre 1780 y 1930, hubo varias decenas de destilerías en Limoges.
