Construido hace 1.000 años sobre una gigantesca roca, el Castillo de Belcastel fue originalmente, en el Siglo IX, una Capilla. Se mantuvo de generación en generación el legado de la Nobleza, los Caballeros y Bribones, convirtiéndose en una gran fortaleza.
Cientos de años más tarde, en el Siglo XVI, su historia fue interrumpida abruptamente quedando en ruinas y totalmente abandonado. Para 1973, Siglo XX, el reconocido arquitecto Fernand Pouillon descubrió este histórico lugar y decidió restaurarlo, devolviéndole su antiguo esplendor.
Pouillon se dedicó ocho años a reconstruir el Castillo y convertirlo en su hogar. Hoy en día, el Chateau se mantiene como residencia privada, pero el público también es bienvenido para hacer recorridos, por ser Monumento Nacional y magnífica galería de arte.
