Situada en el centro del barrio de Habsterdick, la iglesia de Santa María se erige como testigo del arte moderno. Su forma circular, su interior sobrio y el juego de luces que proporcionan los dos cinturones de ventanas invitan a la congregación a reunirse y meditar.
La iglesia actual data de 1963 y sustituye a una capilla que se había quedado pequeña para acoger a los fieles, tras el aumento de población de la posguerra.
