Una de las fortalezas más antiguas de la Edad Media tenía una torre del homenaje en su centro, mencionada por primera vez en 923 por Flodoart. En el siglo XII se construyeron 11 torres. Algunas de las cámaras subterráneas se crearon durante la extracción de piedra caliza para la construcción en el siglo XI. En los siglos XII y XIII, se reforzaron con arcadas para servir de bodega del señor. Aún son visibles los cimientos de una torre del castillo del siglo XII. En el patio alto del castillo, al abrigo de las fortificaciones, sumérjase en la vida feudal, donde artesanos y sirvientes trabajaban a las órdenes del señor.
