Puerta de entrada de Vézère, la ciudad de Montignac es un pasaje obligado para visitar Dordoña.

El río Vézère separa la ciudad en dos: la orilla norte de Montignac guardó su encanto medieval con callejones estrechos, casas sobre pilote,…
En cuanto a la orilla sur, usted descubrirá allí un prieuré, andenes acondicionados y hasta un convento transformado en sala de exposiciones. Usted forzosamente adelantará para ir a por sus billetes para la Cueva célebre de Lascaux, ésta que se encontrará 2kms más lejos, sobre las alturas de la ciudad.
No lejos, usted también podrá visitar el sitio prehistórico de Regourdou.
