Porta della Vézère, Montignac-Lascaux è una tappa obbligata per chi visita la Dordogna.
All'incrocio di 4 strade dipartimentali, è diventata una base strategica per esplorare il Périgord Noir.
Il fiume Vézère divide la città in due: la riva destra di Montignac ha conservato il suo fascino medievale, con strade strette e case su palafitte
Sulla riva sinistra, invece, si trovano un priorato, banchine paesaggistiche e persino un convento trasformato in sala espositiva. Non potrete fare a meno di passarci davanti per prendere i biglietti per la famosa grotta di Lascaux, che si trova 2 km più avanti, sopra la città.
Non lontano, si può visitare anche il sito preistorico di Regourdou.
