An der Kreuzung von vier Departements ist sie zu einem strategischen Punkt geworden, von dem aus man einen Ausflug durch das Périgord Noir unternehmen kann.
Der Fluss Vézère teilt die Stadt in zwei Teile: Das rechte Ufer von Montignac hat seinen mittelalterlichen Charme mit engen Gassen, Häusern auf Pfählen usw. bewahrt
Am linken Ufer finden Sie ein Priorat, angelegte Kais und sogar ein Kloster, das zu einem Ausstellungsraum umgebaut wurde. Sie werden sicher daran vorbeikommen, um Ihre Eintrittskarten für die berühmte Höhle von Lascaux abzuholen, die sich 2 km weiter auf der Anhöhe der Stadt befindet.
In der Nähe können Sie auch die prähistorische Stätte Regourdou besuchen.
