Construido en los siglos XII-XIII, este puente, que era en el pasado la puerta de entrada a la ciudad medieval de Sauveterre-de-Béarn, es el tema de una bonita leyenda, la de Reine Sancie ... En Béarn, pero al borde de País Vasco, vio a muchos peregrinos, comerciantes y otros visitantes cruzar su puente levadizo de madera para refugiarse, visitar o hacer negocios en la ciudad.
Esta es una de las vistas más hermosas de la ciudad y sus numerosas fortificaciones, pero también en Gave d'Oloron, que fluye a sus pies y es una delicia para los entusiastas de las aguas bravas, los pescadores, los bañistas o simplemente Amante de la naturaleza.
