El sector de Haute-Cize está situado en la zona Natura 2000, lo que le confiere un papel importante en la conservación de algunas especies de aves notables. Hay que decir que la diversidad de ambientes entre el Pic d'Herrozate y el bosque de Orión, un vasto y oscuro hayedo enclavado en un estrecho valle, permite aprovechar al máximo algunos de los tesoros del País Vasco. En el bosque, buscaremos la prestigiosa familia de los pájaros carpinteros, representada en particular por el pájaro carpintero dorsiblanco. No hay verdaderos senderos que permitan disfrutar al máximo de esta zona, salvo el que une el pueblo de Béhérobie y el puerto de Erozate, pero que tiene casi 700 m de desnivel. Sin embargo, hay algunas pistas forestales en el bosque.
