El puente de Saint-Amand es uno de los tres puentes de inundación diseñados por el mariscal de Vauban a finales del siglo XVII para reforzar la defensa del frente sureste de la ciudad. El puente permitía inundar el sector aguas arriba para poner la ciudad fuera del alcance de los cañones enemigos. Terminado en 1687, es el único puente que ha resistido las vicisitudes de la historia de la ciudad. Su edificio de maniobras está muy bien conservado y sigue funcionando.
