Description

Le Pont Saint-Amand fait partie des trois ponts-écluses imaginés par le Maréchal de Vauban, à la fin du 17ème siècle pour conforter la défense du front sud-est de la ville. Le pont permettait l’inondation du secteur en amont pour mettre la ville hors de la portée des canons ennemis. Achevé en 1687, il est le seul à avoir résisté aux péripéties liées à l’histoire de la ville. Très bien conservé, son bâtiment de manoeuvre est encore en état de fonctionner.
