La iniciativa fue lanzada por la Association des Membres de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole (AMOMA) Meuse, que organiza el Congreso Nacional de la Asociación de Medallistas de la Orden del Mérito Agrícola en Verdún del 17 al 19 de junio de 2016. En este contexto, AMOMA Mosa ha decidido compensar la falta de reconocimiento de las mujeres rurales erigiendo este monumento.
Para llevar a cabo este proyecto, se ha creado una suscripción pública para recaudar los fondos necesarios.
Realizada en piedra lorenesa de Savonnières en Perthois y Jaumont, la obra consta de una escultura de Denis Mellinger y de una base que contiene el medallón de la "Ordre du Mérite Agricole" y las siguientes inscripciones
