Los cromañones o Cro-Magnon fueron los primeros humanos modernos prehistóricos que se asentaron en Europa, ocupando de manera continua el continente, se estima que desde hace cuarenta mil años, con presencia ininterrumpida hasta hace diez mil años.[1] Limitadamente interactuaron y se cruzaron con los neandertales , los cuales se extinguieron hace 40 a 35 000 años. Todos los cromañones descendieron de la población fundadora que aporta ascendencia a los seres humanos actuales de origen europeo.
