De origen escultórico, Valérie Bornand practica el grabado desde 2013, además del dibujo y el recorte de papel. Considera que la práctica de la escultura y el grabado tienen varias similitudes. El corte directo elimina el material igual que el grabado en la placa de cobre. Trabajar con el grabado o la escultura en bronce implica trabajar con otros materiales y desarrollar un proceso que no da acceso inmediato al objeto final. Esto es lo que más le gusta al artista.
