La capilla de Nuestra Señora de las Gracias
Construida en torno a 1460, esta pequeña capilla gótica es un testimonio de la gratitud del pueblo de Saint-Maixent hacia el rey Carlos VII que, en abril de 1440, concedió a Saint-Maixent el estatuto de municipio por cartas patentes
El rey recompensa así la lealtad de los habitantes, que le habían permanecido fieles durante la revuelta de Praguerie.
La capilla está situada en el lugar donde se habrían reunido las tropas de Carlos VII antes de asaltar el castillo, que fue tomado por los rebeldes el 3 de abril de 1440.
El edificio tiene una fachada muy elaborada y desde 1990 alberga un museo lapidario que conserva capiteles y lápidas procedentes de las excavaciones de la iglesia de Saint-Saturnin, así como algunos restos de monumentos antiguos.
