Dominado por su torre de agua, el municipio de Truchtersheim se encuentra geográficamente en el centro del Kochersberg, una rica región agrícola de colinas situada al oeste de Estrasburgo. Desde 1887, Truchtersheim está unido a Estrasburgo por tranvía, lo que ha constituido un factor extraordinario para el desarrollo de toda la zona: trenes de mercancías (remolacha azucarera, etc.) y de pasajeros, transporte de correo, empleados, agricultores que van al mercado, escolares, etc. La línea se cerró definitivamente en 1953 en favor del transporte en autobús, pero siguió en servicio hasta 1956 con el único fin de transportar remolacha azucarera.
La iglesia Saints Pierre et Paul se construyó en 1964. Se puede admirar la obra del maestro vidriero Thierry RUHLMANN, autor de las vidrieras de colores.
Desde marzo de 2017, el centro del pueblo alberga un centro cultural: la esKapade. Alberga la Maison du Kochersberg y la Oficina de Turismo, completamente renovadas, así como un estudio de artista, un restaurante italiano, una sala de conferencias y una sala de proyección de 180°.
Para los amantes del aire libre, el pueblo está surcado por numerosos senderos señalizados por el Club Vosgien, y cuenta con un parque ecoeducativo con pista de fitness.
