En los Pirineos Atlánticos, el pequeño pueblo de Lalonquette alberga desde hace más de quince siglos un excepcional yacimiento arqueológico: una villa galo-romana
Descubierta en 1843, esta villa fue objeto de exploraciones ocasionales y se propuso un primer estudio de los mosaicos. Sin embargo, no fue hasta 1959 y hasta 1972 que un arqueólogo, Jean Lauffray, realizó verdaderas excavaciones arqueológicas, sacando a la luz los restos de este magnífico complejo.
