Im Departement Pyrénées-Atlantiques beherbergt das kleine Dorf Lalonquette seit mehr als 15 Jahrhunderten eine außergewöhnliche archäologische Stätte: eine gallorömische Villa
Die 1843 entdeckte Villa war Gegenstand punktueller Erkundungen und eine erste Vermessung der Mosaike wurde vorgeschlagen. Allerdings führte der Archäologe Jean Lauffray erst ab 1959 bis 1972 echte archäologische Ausgrabungen durch, bei denen er die Überreste dieses wunderschönen Komplexes ans Tageslicht brachte. Die archäologischen Forschungen wurden 2001 wieder aufgenommen. Der Besuch dieser Ausgrabungsstätte ermöglicht eine neue und spielerische Interpretation der Überreste
