Nella regione dei Pyrénées-Atlantiques, il piccolo villaggio di Lalonquette ospita da oltre quindici secoli un sito archeologico eccezionale: una villa gallo-romana.
Scoperta nel 1843, la villa è stata esplorata di tanto in tanto ed è stata proposta una prima indagine sui mosaici. Tuttavia, solo nel 1959 e fino al 1972 un archeologo, Jean Lauffray, effettuò uno scavo archeologico su larga scala, portando alla luce i resti di questo magnifico complesso. Le ricerche archeologiche sono riprese nel 2001. Una visita a questo sito offre un modo originale e divertente di esplorare i resti.
