Las pruebas escritas sugieren que la iglesia de Baptresse data del periodo carolingio.
Esta iglesia fue la sucesora de un templo galo-romano. En 1835, se descubrió frente a la iglesia un altar galo-romano dedicado a cuatro dioses: Marte, Vulcano, Hércules y Mercurio, que desde entonces se conserva en el museo de Poitiers.
En el cementerio primitivo, detrás de la iglesia, hay un pequeño pero interesante monumento, una cruz hosannière.
Esta pequeña y encantadora iglesia se utiliza actualmente como espacio de exposiciones.
