Geschreven bewijs suggereert dat de kerk in Baptresse dateert uit de Karolingische periode.
Deze kerk was de opvolger van een Gallo-Romeinse tempel. In 1835 werd voor de kerk een Gallo-Romeins altaar voor vier goden ontdekt - Mars, Vulcanus, Hercules en Mercurius - dat sindsdien in het museum van Poitiers staat.
Op het primitieve kerkhof achter de kerk staat een klein maar interessant monument, een hosannière-kruis.
Dit charmante kerkje wordt nu gebruikt als tentoonstellingsruimte.
