El señor de Mauze "hace cortar tierras" en 1315 para crear un puerto. En 1714, el ingeniero del rey Claude Masse visita el puerto de Chaban y Mauzé, que está amenazado de ruina. Napoleón I examinó un proyecto de canal en 1808. De 1843 a 45, el canal de Mignon está acondicionado desde la esclusa de Bazoin hasta el puerto de gueux (cerca de Sazay) prorrogado de 1880 a 83 hasta Mauzé para conectar el municipio con el mar por la Sèvre Niortaise y permitir el transporte por gabara de mercancías. Rápidamente competido por el ferrocarril, luego la carretera, el puerto más grande de Venecia Verde pronto será abandonado. En 1996 fue rehabilitado en el marco de los Grandes Trabajos del Marais Poitevin, pero sigue siendo inaccesible a los barcos, ya que el canal es actualmente navegable desde Bazoin hasta un poco por encima de La Greve-s.-Le-Mignon.
