Para conmemorar el bicentenario del nacimiento de la egiptóloga Mariette Pacha de Boulogne, la ciudad inauguró un obelisco de 12 m de altura al pie de las murallas.
Está realizado íntegramente en mármol procedente de las canteras de Vallée Heureuse en Rinxent. Se trata de una réplica en pequeño tamaño del Obelisco de la Concordia de París. El obelisco se alza en el corazón del nuevo jardín y pesa más de 60 toneladas.
