El Mentiroso se encuentra en la Place du Minck.
La Torre Leughenaer (antigua ortografía de la palabra holandesa leugenaar que significa "mentiroso") es una torre octogonal de 30 metros de altura situada en Dunkerque. Construida alrededor de 1450, esta torre es el monumento más antiguo de la ciudad . Fue construida por Jacques Desfontaines, rodeada por una plataforma de vigilancia del puerto en el siglo XVIII, y luego elevada en 1814 para instalar una linterna de faro . Ha conservado gran parte de su equipamiento técnico del siglo XIX.
Desde 1825 hasta 1963 la torre sirvió como faro. Se dice que desde allí se enviaban señales falsas a los barcos que iban a la playa para saquearlos, de ahí el nombre de la torre. Es más probable que los barcos se estrellaran debido al canal de acceso, que era difícil de navegar y tenía muchas curvas.
