La capital del Haut-Doubs en la región de Franche-Comté es Pontarlier. Este cuenta con dos activos fuera de categoría: las destilerías de absenta y un museo del automóvil de 8000 m². Hasta la prohibición en 1915, Pontarlier fue la capital de la absenta, un licor amargo destilado a partir de ajenjo que consiste en casi un 75 % de alcohol. El Musée Sbarro debe su nombre a Franco Sbarro, un constructor y diseñador de automóviles italiano que en sus Ateliers de Construction Automobile (ACA) en Grandson, Suiza, cerca del lago Neuchatel, creó reconstrucciones y prototipos extravagantes de sus propios diseños.
