Es un magnífico edificio construido en 1665, como residencia privada de Sir John Denham. De estilo Paladiano, luego fué vendido al conde de Burlington del que tomó su nombre.
Ahora alberga la Royal Academy of Arts, y es sede de diversas fundaciones culturales, como la Fundación Geológica, la Astronómica, o la de Anticuarios.
A parte de su importante colección permanente, en este museo organizan diversas exposiciones de arte contemporáneo y temporales, que siempre son de gran interés.
