Kilwinning es notable por albergar la Logia original de los Masones. Cuando las Logias fueron renumeradas, Kilwinning se mantuvo como Logia Número '0', la Logia Madre de Escocia. El origen de la Logia no está claro, siendo la primera evidencia documental una mención en los Estatutos de Schaw de 1598 y 1599, que la identifican en su primer párrafo como la "logia principal y secundaria de Escocia".
