La carretera A12 es una vía de tráfico de larga distancia en Inglaterra. Comienza en Londres, se dirige hacia el noreste a través de la capital del Reino Unido, cruza en la salida Junction 28 el anillo de autopistas de Londres M25, y continúa a través de Essex pasando por Brentwood, Chelmsford, Witham y Colchester, hasta llegar a Suffolk, hacia Ipswich. Hasta allí, también forma parte de la Ruta Europea 30. Desde Ipswich, continúa, inicialmente junto con la carretera A14 cruzando el río Orwell, pasando por Woodbridge, Saxmundham y Blythburgh hasta Lowestoft, la ciudad más oriental del Reino Unido.
La carretera está construida de cuatro carriles desde Londres hasta Ipswich y tiene salidas numeradas. Chelmsford se rodea por un "desvío" oriental, del cual varias vías llevan a Clacton-on-Sea, también Witham se rodea al este, Colchester por un "desvío" occidental. Ipswich se rodea por el sur. También el tramo desde Ipswich a través de Woodbridge hasta Wickham Market está mayormente construido de cuatro carriles. La continuación de Lowestoft a Norwich ya no forma parte de la A12 desde 2017.
