La carretera A33 tiene una longitud total de 89 km, que ha sido reemplazada parcialmente por la autopista M3, y está designada como ruta principal solo en los tramos de Reading a Basingstoke y en el tramo final en Southampton, en Inglaterra, cuyo tramo norte va de Reading a Basingstoke. El segundo tramo comienza en Popham, aproximadamente a 11 km al suroeste de Basingstoke, en la conexión de la carretera A30 a la carretera A303 y sigue utilizando la ruta del antiguo camino romano desde allí por la autopista M3 hasta las afueras de Winchester. El breve tercer tramo comienza en la bifurcación de la M3 con la autopista M27, va de allí hacia el sur, finalmente gira hacia el noroeste y termina en la carretera A35. Solo el tramo de Reading hasta la frontera del condado de Hampshire está construido de cuatro carriles.
